David M. Kakiashvili

Specialization

Dr. Kakiashvili is Director of Urological Oncology, Head of Robotic Surgery and Deputy Director of the Department of Urology at Rambam Health Care Campus. In his clinical practice, he seeks to treat complex urological malignancies using advanced minimally invasive technologies. 

Education

A graduate of the State Medical University in Georgia, Dr. Kakiashvili completed a urology course in Rambam in 2006. He also completed a one-year internship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Finally, he completed his clinical internship in urological oncology and minimally invasive surgery at the University of Toronto, Toronto, Canada. Dr. Kakiashvili is certified by the American, Canadian and Israeli Societies of Urological Oncology. In addition, he is the holder of an international certificate in the field of robotic surgery. 

Clinical experience

Dr. Kakiashvili is one of the few urological surgeons in Israel who has been trained in both urological oncology and robotic surgery. His areas of competence include robotic nerve-sparing prostatectomy, preservation of urination and sexual function, as well as robotic surgery for kidney tumors. In addition, Dr. Kakiashvili performs comprehensive reconstructive surgery for bladder cancer, nerve-sparing retroperitoneal surgery for metastatic testicular cancer, and surgery for adrenal tumors.
