Professor Amiel is Director of the Urology Department at the Rambam Health Care Campus.
Education
Professor Amiel graduated from the medical school of Ben-Gurion University in Be'er Sheva. He is the captain of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). Professor Amiel completed his residency in urology at the Bnai Zion Medical Center in Haifa, where he devoted the years 1998-2000 to basic scientific research. He also worked as a research fellow in the Laboratory of Tissue Engineering and Cell Therapy, Department of Urology at the Harvard Medical School Children's Hospital in Boston, under the direction of Dr. Anthony Atal. After completing his urological residency in Israel in 2003, Professor Amiel completed a joint clinical and research internship in urological oncology and minimally invasive surgery at the Scott Department of Urology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, from 2004 to 2006.
Clinical experience
Professor Amiel founded the Laboratory of Tissue Engineering at Baylor College of Medicine, which conducts translational research in the field of urogenital reconstruction. In 2007, he entered the Baylor faculty as an assistant professor, director of education and director of the urogenital tissue engineering laboratory at Scott's Urology Department.
